New Year, New Blog

Hello there! Welcome to my (very first) blog, and thanks for reading!

It’s a new year… and a BIG year for me. I turn 30 in June, my fiancé (Andy) and I are in the process of buying our first house, and we’re getting married in September. Besides these milestone life events, I strive to balance my professional goals/aspirations, roles, and responsibilities in the world of education.

I work in the Baltimore County Public Schools system, one of the largest in the state of Maryland. BCPS has set goals towards implementing effective uses of technology in and beyond the classroom. Although some educators may be reluctant to explore these new initiatives, I have decided to embrace them. Various learning opportunities will arise for both teachers and students. In the overall theme of this year (the words change and transition come to mind), there are many new and exciting things happening!

I am currently participating in a book study for Amplify! Digital Teaching and Learning in the K-6 Classroom. At the end of each chapter, the book offers “Three Things to Try Tomorrow”. As part of our course requirements, we are to reflect on readings, podcasts, and videos via Video Diary or blog. We can choose one or more of the suggested strategies to use in our classrooms. I look forward to enhancing my best practices through the use of technology in the art classroom.
